
Benefits of Using Candles for Relaxation

Did yall know that there are actual benefits to using candles for relaxation? I’m Jessica Heath. I make handmade organic soy candles. I have always used candles to decorate with as well as just relax around the house.
I always believed candles could assist in relaxation, but I never knew there was SCIENTIFIC PROOF that candles has physiological effect on us. Here is an interesting quote I found, "It is scientifically proven that scented candles can play an essential role in the physiological effects of mood, stress, working capacity, and overall mental health," says Chryssa Chalkia, an accredited clinical integrative psychotherapist and cognitive behavioral therapist.
In other words, certain scents can trigger nostalgia. An example would be a cinnamon candle may remind you of your grandmother because she always had cinnamon candy with her. In turn that scent soothes you because of the memory of your grandmother.
Certain aromas, like geranium, lavender, and peppermint, have been proven to be useful for the treatment of various psychological and physiological disorders. That is why lavender is used to assist in sleeping or calming oneself.
There is much more research and data that can be read about candles and there relaxation affect on the mind and body.
This is just one more reason why I LOVE candles so much. It isn’t just a beautiful piece of home decor, but it can benefit one’s very own physical and mental health when used in a way to assist in relaxing.
